Straight Through Cable
Definition
A Straight-Through Cable is an Ethernet (UTP) cable in which the wire arrangement (pinout) is the same on both ends, meaning each pin connects directly to the same pin on the other side (1→1, 2→2, etc.).
What Problem It Solves
It allows proper communication between different types of network devices by correctly matching transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) pins automatically.
What Happens If Not Used
If a straight-through cable is not used where required, devices may not communicate properly because Tx and Rx pins will not align correctly, leading to no network connection.

It is a LAN cable where both ends are wired the same so devices like a PC and switch can connect easily.

It’s like using a normal extension wire where both ends match perfectly, so electricity flows without any adjustment.

A straight-through cable typically uses the same standard on both ends (T568A or T568B).

- End A: T568B
- End B: T568B Used for connecting different device types, such as:
- PC → Switch
- Router → Switch
- Firewall → Switch Since one device transmits on pins 1 & 2 and the other receives on those pins, the connection works without needing crossover.
