Definition

Electric charge (like electrons) is the fundamental carrier of electrical energy. It acts as a messenger, receiving energy from a power source and delivering it through a circuit.

The Problem That Led to It

Historically, transferring energy meant physically moving heavy fuel (like coal). A faster, more scalable method was needed to instantly transmit energy over distances.

What Problem It Solves

Charges act as built-in invisible messengers inside wires, instantly carrying energy from a battery to a destination

What Happens If Not Used

Without charge carriers, energy cannot flow, leaving all electrical devices powerless.

Easy Wording

Electric charge is the vehicle that delivers energy from a battery to your devices.

Layman Example

Think of a road of parked cars (charges). When a battery is connected, these already-existing cars start moving, delivering their passengers (energy).

Technical Example

Electrons are already present inside copper wires. Connecting a battery energizes these existing electrons, causing them to drift forward and power a lightbulb.

Limitation

Charges naturally just sit there; they cannot move to do work without an external push.

Solution

We need an Electric Field or Voltage (the battery's push) to force these stationary charges to move and transfer their energy.
